THE DE WILDE EXPEDITION: 1878 - ?
Journey into the heart of Africa, following the footsteps of a significant, yet little-known expedition. Strange lands, mysterious people, romance, intrigue... and a curse? These all made up the ill-fated journeys of Bernard De Wilde and his secretary-turned-wife Sylvie, who suddenly disappeared in the heart of the Dark Continent. How could these explorers and cartographers, so intent on sailing Lake Victoria and mapping its surrounding waterways, get caught up in a darker mystery?

Learn their story (what little we know of it), view the artifacts from their travels (what few exist) and related pieces from the era, and study the clues. Can you piece everything together to learn their fate. Many have tried to solve the De Wilde mystery, and all have failed. See the exhibit, examine the clues and decide for yourself what happened to these explorers!
